It is common knowledge that immigrants worldwide have faced and continue to face several challenges when trying to build a new life in a foreign land. However, second generation immigrants face an additional layer of complications as they must try to reconcile the cultural identity of their parents’ home country with their own. In this group, we will discuss the struggles and traumas of second-generation immigrants. We will also address more tabooed topics, such as how to let go of the unconscious guilt of eclipsing one’s parents, codependency, and how to end the cycle of intergenerational trauma and become truly free.
